Gothic, Victorian, and Indo-Islamic fusion in public buildings.
During the British Raj, colonial cities like Lahore and Karachi saw a wave of public building construction. Early British architecture reflected Neo-Classical and Gothic Revival styles, seen in structures like Frere Hall and Government College Lahore.
Later, the Indo-Saracenic style emerged, combining domes, chattris, minarets, and jalis with British-style arches and symmetry. It was used in railway stations, museums, and administrative buildings like Lahore Museum and Mohatta Palace.
This hybrid style represented both imperial authority and cultural sensitivity, creating some of the subcontinent’s most iconic colonial-era landmarks.
Hi colleagues, fastidious piece of writing and nice urging commented at this place, I am genuinely enjoying by these.
